Plan ahead for safe travelsall year long.
A DUI can cost thousands in fees, your license, or even a life.
During holidays throughout the year, the Delaware Office of Highway Safety will partner with Lyft and Uber to offer discounted rides to make sure everyone gets home safely. The Delaware Office of Highway Safety’s Sober Rides program aims to decrease the number of impaired-driving crashes and fatalities in Delaware by providing up to $20 in ride-share vouchers from Lyft and Uber. Sober Rides is offered during prominent holidays when Delawareans are expected to be out celebrating and drinking — and most importantly, in need of a safe ride home.
Vouchers become available the afternoon of the program. The Sober Rides vouchers become available on the day of the promotion and are active during the indicated time range. Additional vouchers are added to the website at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. for anyone in need of a last-minute safe ride home. Make sure to check back!
There’s no minimum spend required. The Sober Rides $20 voucher can be used on any ride with Lyft or Uber during the hours that the program is active.
Any remaining balance from your voucher will be applied to your next ride, if the ride is during the designated times. After that, the voucher will expire.
Vouchers are limited to one per user per Lyft or Uber account.
The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) receives federal funding to support behavior change campaigns that encourage Delawareans to be safer drivers and to provide funding to local police departments for additional enforcement initiatives. However, OHS cannot use federal funds to implement the Sober Rides program. So we rely on our partnerships with businesses and organizations that are willing to sponsor the activation of Sober Rides. That said, if you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please email SoberRides@abccreative.com.
The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) partners with Lyft and Uber to promote safe driving and prevent impaired driving. Through media outreach, street teams, and awareness materials, the initiative offers free Lyft and Uber vouchers during select holidays, encouraging residents and visitors to choose a safe ride instead of driving under the influence.
